Region 9 Tax Credits

Business Tax Credits

Businesses (which include farms and ranches) may be eligible for a variety of tax credits including capital investments, job training, and research and development, and other credits based on the business location. The tax credit incentives fact sheet from the Colorado Department of Revenue provides a summary of available incentives.

All of Montezuma and some of La Plata and Archuleta counties are in Enterprise Zones. All of Dolores, San Juan, and most of Archuleta counties are in Enhanced Enterprise Zones. See the Enterprise Zone Income Tax Credit Guide for a list of business incentives, credit amounts, and more information.

Pre-certify Annually

Pre-certification and Certification require approval by the Southwest Enterprise Zone Administrator and needs to be filed electronically. Pre-certify or certify by clicking here. Submitting information for pre-certification does not obligate the business to actually earn or use the credit(s).

"GCC Energy learned about the Enterprise Zone tax credits when they started working with us at the La Plata Economic Development Alliance. I contacted Laura at Region 9 and as a result, GCC has been able to save substantial amounts of money on major capital equipment purchases. This is important, as it increases the ROI for their parent company and fosters more investment and job creation here. This is a great example of the type of benefit we can bring to a local firms, particularly larger local firms, and I am very happy to see the fruits of our relationships beginning to pay off."
- Roger Zalneratis, Former Executive Director of La Plata Economic Development Alliance
